Biography
LVVRS (pronounced lovers) has steadily evolved from a regional standout to a rising force in modern pop-rock. Formed on Valentine’s Day 2018, the five-piece built its reputation through sharp songwriting, relentless touring, and a sound that blends glossy pop hooks with rock swagger and cinematic atmosphere.
Their breakthrough arrived with the 2024 EP Midnight Fantasy, driven by the streaming success of “Iconic” and the disco-themed, stylish “Fever Night” video, which earned Best Music Video at the Josie Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry. The EP drew praise from Antigravity Magazine, who described it as “a record designed for dance floors and Top 40 radio stations,” applauding the band’s ability to merge timeless themes with a fresh, contemporary edge.
The band’s music soon reached wider audiences through placements on Netflix’s Temptation Island, The Ultimatum, Love Is Blind, and a cameo in the Zac Efron–Jeremy Allen White film Iron Claw, expanding LVVRS’ presence far beyond their Southern roots.
In 2025, LVVRS continued their upward climb with milestone festival appearances. Their debut at the Austin City Limits Music Festival served as a full-circle moment, returning to the city where they played their first show as LVVRS back in 2018. The performance followed sets at SXSW and a high-profile second appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, where they opened for Cheap Trick on the Gentilly Stage. That same year, frontman River Gibson, often compared to Michael Hutchence for his commanding vocal presence and moves, earned another Josie Award for Vocalist of the Year.
Creatively, 2025 marked one of the band’s most expressive periods. They released a trio of singles—“The Love You Gave Me,” “The Bed,” and “Wild Heart”—capturing both emotional depth and anthemic energy. “The Bed,” written in a five-minute burst of inspiration, quickly became a fan favorite and landed the band on Spotify’s Release Radar. At the end of the year, LVVRS revealed a more intimate side with the first half of their two-part acoustic EP From the Heart, which featured “Dancing with a Broken Heart,” a demo of “Free,” and a thoughtful cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire.” “These songs were born on an acoustic guitar,” Gibson explains. “We wanted to keep them raw and honest.”
Onstage, LVVRS has become renowned for electrifying, high-energy performances. The band plays more than 60 shows annually, lighting up venues such as The Oriental in Denver and The Masquerade in Atlanta, and commanding massive audiences at Festival International de Louisiane, the country’s largest international music festival, with crowds reaching 500,000. Their live chemistry underscores their musical identity—drawing from influences like INXS, Maroon 5, the glam of T. Rex, and The 1975—while delivering a sleek, modern sound that is unmistakably their own.
With a growing list of accolades—including the grand prize at the 2023 Louisiana Music Prize and Song of the Year at the Ozone Songwriter’s Festival for “The Love You Gave Me”—LVVRS now stands at the cusp of their biggest leap yet. The band will release their debut full-length album, Heaven and the Heartland, in Spring 2026, which promises to be the boldest refinement of their identity so far—their heart, their fire, and their ambition delivered at full volume.
